Mr. Cutlar is the day-to-day manager of the firm's civil division, and maintains an active caseload himself. His practice focuses on employment and business litigation cases. As such, Mr. Cutlar routinely handles a variety of matters including: Title VII cases (sexual harassment, retaliation, race, gender, age and national origin discrimination), FMLA and FLSA cases, and breach of contract claims involving non-competition agreements, business disputes, and intellectual property disputes. Mr. Cutlar also provides advice and counsel related to employee policies and procedures, drafts of employee handbooks, executive compensation and contracts, non-competition agreements, severance agreements, and the protection of corporate intellectual property. In addition to litigating cases, Mr. Cutlar has negotiated scores of dispute resolutions and has obtained a Certification of Mediation for mediating EEO cases and workplace disputes.
Mr. Cutlar was named one of Virginia's "Super Lawyers" in 2006 and one of Washington, D.C.'s "Super Lawyers" in 2007 -- both by Law and Politics. Mr. Cutlar has also been published and consulted regarding employment and business related matters in the following publications: Washington Business Journal, 12/19/03; Co-author, Arbitration: A Comprehensive Overview (Presented to the Arlington Bar Assoc.--Arlington, Virginia--4/12/05); Co-author, Winning Jury Themes (Presented to the Fairfax Bar Assoc.--Fairfax, Virginia--4/13/05); Contributor, Reasons for firings are diverse (Free-Lance Star, 4/16/05).
Mr. Cutlar is a 1990 graduate of Cornell Law School. Before joining Albo & Oblon, Mr. Cutlar worked for four years as a trial attorney in the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division and served three years as an Administrative Law Judge for the New York City Department of Finance. Mr. Cutlar also worked in private practice serving as Of Counsel to several law firms in New York City litigating employment cases and personal injury matters on behalf of those firms.
